The traditional lentil soup recipe is the most common type of soup in the month of Ramadan, and it is easy to prepare and rich in nutrients necessary for the fasting and very saturated.
Ingredients of lentil soup
1/2 k red lentils
8 cups of water
1 large onion, cut into small cubes
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cube chicken broth
1 potato
1 carrot
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Salt
A small pinch of black pepper
How to prepare lentil soup
In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat, then add the onions and stir for two minutes until it changes its color.
Add lentils, and stir for two minutes.
Add water and chicken broth and cumin, and stir well.
Add the peeled and chopped potatoes, then leave the ingredients to boil.
Cover the pot, and leave it on a very low heat for 35 - 40 minutes until the lentils are tender.
Leave the lentils cool, then mash it in the electric mixer, until it becomes smooth.
Strain the lentils, then put it on the fire again, stirring constantly until the lentils boil.
Serve lentil soup with toast and lemon juice.
