Fish broth: A nutritious option for your health

Fish broth is a traditional recipe appreciated for its flavour and nutritional value. It is prepared using the bones, spines and heads of fish, taking advantage of nutrients that would otherwise be discarded. Like other broths such as bone broth or chicken feet broth, it provides collagen to the body, although in smaller quantities than those mentioned, along with other minerals, vitamins and antioxidants

Nutritional benefits of fish broth

Fish broth is a good source of:

Nutrient Benefit

Proteins The amino acids that make up proteins are essential for building and repairing tissues.

Minerals Calcium, phosphorus and iodine contribute to bone health, electrolyte balance and thyroid function, respectively.

Vitamins Fish provides vitamins A and D, important for vision, the immune system and bone health.

Omega-3 fatty acids Found primarily in fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines, omega-3s have anti-inflammatory effects and are beneficial for cardiovascular and brain health.

Add nutritional value and increase flavor

To make the most of the benefits of fish broth, other ingredients can be incorporated:

Vegetables: Celery, onion, carrot and leek provide vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Herbs and spices: Bay leaves, parsley, thyme and saffron enhance the flavor and add antioxidant properties.

Ginger: This root has anti-inflammatory properties and a spicy touch that combines well with fish.

Fish broth is a simple and delicious way to incorporate essential nutrients into your diet. While it is not a miracle for health, as advertising sometimes suggests, its regular consumption, as part of a balanced diet, can contribute to general well-being.

Please note the importance of choosing fish from sustainable sources to minimize environmental impact.
